What is the rate of pay?

The rate of pay varies depending on the type of work and the facility. Please see the job posting or speak to a recruiter for the pay rate for specific assignments.

How long are the assignments?

Assignments can last from a day or two up to several months. Because this is a strike situation, there is no way to know in advance how long an assignment will last. Therefore, if you agree to deploy on a travel assignment, you must be able to stay there for 45 days or longer when you deploy, although there is no guarantee the assignment will last that long. After you reach 45 days on a deployment, you will have the option whether you want to continue on at the site, or return home.

Why do you require experience on all the assignments, I’m a quick learner!?!

Because the companies we work for are on strike, they need the workforce we provide to be proficient and able to “hit the ground running”, therefore we need people who do not require training in any of the skilled positions.

How often will I work?

The amount of work we have is dependent on many variables, what contracts we have, whether the strike happens or not, etc. Employment with Huffmaster is contingent employment. We encourage you to keep your contact information including both a phone number and email address up to date with us so we can contact you when we have assignments that meet your qualifications.

How do I get to the job site?

For Non-Local Positions – We will provide confirmation of a prepaid airplane ticket. All you need to do is arrive at the airport with your luggage and identification and check in at the counter. If you are flying an airline that charges for baggage, Huffmaster will reimburse you for ONE checked bag if you turn in your receipt to your coordinator when you arrive at the job site.
Please make sure to arrive at least 2 hours before your flight is scheduled to depart to allow time to check in and get through security.

If you live too close to fly, we will reimburse mileage to drive to the job site or provide transportation by other commercial transportation.

For Local positions – Some of our clients prefer us to recruit from the local job market. On those assignments, you will be responsible to commute daily from your home to a meeting location where you will be transported across the picket line by our security personnel.

Where do I stay?

We provide hotel accommodations at a hotel in the vicinity of the facility.

Do I have to share a room?

Yes, we assign personnel to a hotel two people to a room with a bed for each. We try to put people in rooms with opposite shift personnel, however, due to many variables this cannot be guaranteed.

What about costs for meals?

Each person staying in provided housing will receive daily cash per diem they can use for meal expenses. This is paid daily, and is in addition to your wages.

Can I bring my family/pet?

How many hours will I work?

For non-local personnel – Shifts are typically 10-12 hours per day, 6-7 days per week.
For local personnel – Shift times will vary depending on the assignment.

How do I get around/get food?

You will be picked up at the airport when you arrive at your destination city and transported to the job site. We will have vehicles that will transport you to and from the job as well as to go get food.Whenever possible we try to stay in hotels that also have food/restaurants within walking distance.

How do I get placed on an assignment?

For new candidates – The first step is to complete our online application by following the link in the job postings section of the website.

We will then contact those that have completed our online application for the positions we are staffing and conduct a telephone interview. If you meet all the qualifications, you will be placed on the schedule, and await the deployment order.

For personnel that are already in our application database – we run searches based on the job skills we are looking for and either email or autocall those individuals to see if they are interested in the assignment. If you meet the qualifications and are available for the assignment, you will be placed on the schedule.

How much lead time will I have before I need to travel?

Often the specific deployment date is not known until 12-48 hours before we deploy. Those that can travel within 24 hours notice are preferred.

Where are the assignments?

Assignments can be located anywhere in the United States. We do not work internationally.

When do we get paid?

Pay days are every Monday. Pay weeks are Sunday through Saturday. It takes one week to process payroll.

For example, for pay period Sunday, October 6 – Saturday October 12, the pay date for that period would be Monday, October 21.

How will I receive my check?

If you are actively working at a job site on pay day, all checks for that site will be sent by overnight package to the site coordinator to distribute, unless you tell them you want the check mailed to your home.

If you are not currently at a job site, all checks will be mailed to the address you provided on your employment paperwork. Checks are mailed through the US Mail, so the date you receive the check will depend on the time it takes for the US Mail to deliver.

Can I have Direct Deposit?

We prefer all employees to enroll in direct deposit. We offer direct deposit either to your personal bank accounts or to a Huffmaster provided debit card. Due to the unpredictability of the US Mail, and difficulties with certain banks and check cashing companies cashing checks, we strongly recommend you enroll in direct deposit so there are no delays in getting your funds.

My information has changed since I filled out my employee documents, how can I change them?

Please go to the resource tab and there are electronic forms for change of address, tax forms and direct deposit forms you can complete that are sent directly to our company. No need to print or fax.

I’ve been requested to send in documents, how can I send them to you?

Depending on the position, you may be requested to submit copies of documents such as your DOT card if you are a CDL driver etc. You can submit documents in several ways:

Fax – please fax to 866-686-5284

If you do not have access to a traditional scanner or fax, there are many free programs for smartphones that can scan your documents using the camera on your phone. One that works well is called Camscanner Free.
